Due to the mental slugs, never realized I could actually Google people who who regular old pals. I know, "techie re-re".
But the point is - do you have those people in your past that are so precious to your heart that just hearing their name makes you smile? Who are some of your fav's? No, Bono is a rockstar and he doesn't count.

Bono. He counts.
My friend Priscilla from high school. We'd been friends since elementary school, actually, and every time I think of her I laugh out loud. We used to get in SO much trouble together. Every time she spent the night, my dad would have to separate us because we'd wake him up with our 2:00 AM dramatic readings.
AND we had baking experiments... we once made some pretty interesting purple brownies... and I'm relatively sure that after a sleepover, we made suggestively-shaped pancakes. Believe it.
Ok, seriously, not just an attempt to flatter, but you, Beth! I miss you and Levi! It is really cool to have found your blog because it makes my heart happy to even have a little reconnection!
On the Balon fam note, Matthew as well. What a great kid! I know, I know, you are not a kid anymore, and you never really were quite the average "kid." Still hating that I couldn't have made it to your wedding!
Besides the lovely Balon family (all of whom are dear to me, by the way!), I just got my college alumni directory last night and was so happy. Despite feeling like I struggle to connect with the general female population, I've been really blessed to have several groups of great girl friends and can't even believe that I've completely lost track of a few. There were a group of us girls in college that just...well, like Beth said, just hearing their names makes me smile.
Feeling especially nostalgic these days as I wade through sorting stuff in our storage closet and after visiting the midwest to see grandparents last week, so great question, Beth!!!
Well, let's see....YOU!
I have a couple others I've stayed connected to as well: Karly, Happi, Karna and would you believe my parents ran into Kelly W. a few weeks ago. Just hearing that made me smile! :)
Lori
Rachel, it's good to hear from you as well. I'm glad you found us!
Do you think Autumn makes us a bit nostalgic?
Well, yeaaaah .. I lugged an autumn cookbook and a pint jar of apple butter from Garwood Farms to Mexico!!!! The first thing I did on my computer was change my desktop screen to a shot I took of Hawthorne's house in Concord, the background blazing in crimsoms and golds. And I am not even ashamed to admit that I strongly advised some of my closest friends that if they are REALLY my friends, they will send send a wad of dried maple leaves to me (to burn of course - no prohibitions down here!) . . . . . . . . oh wait, did you mean nostalgic for ----people?????? dang, I'm always that sliver of a second behind, I THOUGHT that was a quick sedgeway.
Well, I have been nostalgic for people AND autumn lately! We're getting a good rain storm tonight in LA, which is fantastic! And don't get me wrong, it's nice to have mellow, sunny weather, but I do miss those leaves and the smells and the comfort foods when there's just that little chill in the air! Mmmm....Maybe I'll make some stewed fruit soon, which I learned from Bethany! :)
Stewed fruit is directly from heaven! So simple
Chunk up stone fruit with butter into a saucepan. Must have cherries!
The smell is divine - Peaches, cherries, plums etc..
This post is soooo fun - just had a call from one of my JUNIOR HIGH buddies. SO incredible and fabulous to hear her voice. Something so right about people who knew you when..

Bethany, Cindy, Matthew, Rachel... mmmhmmm, autumn difinitly makes us reflect on the wonderful warmth that is behind us and the persevering death that is to come... although, I'm kind of anticipating the beautiful white that will cover our bareness in a few months. Missing autumn in Africa, Mexico, or wherever, is just a glimpse of the emptiness left by missing people. Bethany, you were difinitly some summer warmth in my past and it's exciting to hear where you are now! I'm sharing your state- just moved back to Madison:)
