What the......?

I wonder how to raise children that will not only feel secure, but will be able to stand in self-confidence. How is it possible that I was raised in such a secure home and for most of my life struggled with agonizing bouts of self-doubt? I suppose one involves more risk.

I think that all of us in one way or the other have agonizing bouts of self-doubt and we all handle it and/or hide it and/or display it differently. I think and this is just my opinion, that if anyone says they have never experienced self-doubt, they are lying.
I experienced a situation of self-doubt today with one of my children who phoned me with a something bad that is going on in her life. This beautiful person was allowing the situation to speak volumes to her about herself causing her to doubt herself and her abilities greatly. But by the end of the conversation God had, through her mother....turned that around!! When the situation unfolded, she immediately called her place of security and I chased that ole self-doubt away. My point for you as a parent....my opinion as an answer (or suggestion maybe says it better) to your question, is that you will stand in and be their self-confidence when they cannot stand in it themselves :)!!
